Helping strategic teams to reflect, that is in short the task of the Executive Team Coach.
Helping to think about the mission, results, processes and ways of working in the team, so that the team becomes more “a team” and can function more effectively.
Peter Hawkins (2014) gives a clear description of the work of a Team Coach:
Enable a team to function better than the sum of its parts, by clarifying both the mission and the team’s external and internal relationships. This is different from a coach who helps a leader to lead the team better, or who coaches the individual members of a team.
It is evident that, due to the increased complexity, interdependence and pressure in organizations, the importance of team effectiveness also increases.
