Live webinar ‘Intercultural Coaching’ with Marco Blankenburgh (UAE) .

September 3rd, 15.30 – 17.00

——

Exclusively for Executive Coaches that work with the Dutch Centre for Executive Coaching.

——

We could say a lot about the importance of intercultural awareness and intercultural skills in our profession, but here is what Marco would like to tell you as an introduction:

“Executive Coaching is becoming a global phenomenon and coaching is becoming more normalized and an integrated element of leadership development journeys.

Many coaches indicate their frequency of coaching interculturally is increasing. At the same time, coaching frameworks and approaches do not mention or only pay lip-service to the importance of the intercultural side of the coaching engagement.

The intercultural resources available only help coaches explain intercultural challenges by comparing nationality, ethnicity, and race-oriented differences. Unfortunately, this approach is too superficial for leaders who engage global colleagues and other stakeholders on a daily basis!

We need a fresh way to look at the intercultural side of a coaching engagement! We believe we have overvalued the importance of psychology and undervalued the impact of culture and it is time to change that! Coaches need to be equipped to “turn on both spotlights”, the cultural spotlight and the psychological spotlight.

Our world has close to 300 million people that live outside their passport country and roughly ⅓ of the global workforce indicate that they frequently engage across cultures and ethnicities.
As a result of this we need to learn to see in a fresh new way! See beyond the ‘outside cultural wrapper’ and instead see the unique cultural wiring of each person we connect with.

For the last 20 years KnowledgeWorkx has deployed personal cultural analysis methodologies to work together with existing psychometric and psychological approaches to human engagement.

When equip coaches with Cultural Agility the following starts happening in the coaching engagement: it becomes easier to create psychological safety and trust, the coaching engagement deepens & more nuanced, the coach is able to ask more compelling questions, and the coachee articulates and implements actions that are interculturally validated.

In this interactive session we will give you a chance to experience some of the tools that KnowledgeWorkx has used in over 70 countries around the world. We will unpack two intercultural coaching techniques that will equip you to start the journey of effective intercultural engagement in your coaching practice.”
